The group of three cheetahs released on NamibRand earlier this year are doing really well. Although the group split up after the release, the research team in the south has managed to follow the two collared individuals.

The adventurous release of our three cheetah cubs!
After four weeks being in their new release boma, it was time for our three youngsters to be fully released back to the wild. N/a’an ku sê Directors, Rudie and Marlice van Vuuren, and Head Researcher, Florian Weise joined fellow researchers, Lars and Christine down in the stunning NamibRand Nature Reserve at the beginning of June. Eight cheetah cubs - March 2010
Our gorgeous eight cheetah cubs are still enjoying their new home at N/a’an ku sê and look forward to their daily visit from us. When the truck pulls up for feeding, all eight cheetahs (plus Chiquita and Vasco) dash to the fence eager for their food and then run away as fast as lightening. They have a huge enclosure and do an extremely good job of hiding themselves so feeding time is a real treat for us as much as it is for them!

Aiko - March 2010
Aiko has settled back into camp after his adventure away filming in NamibRand and seems glad to be home.
Ayla and the cubs - March 2010
Ayla and our two smaller cubs have recently been the subject of some exciting new research. Flo and his research team have been taking samples of their footprints and using the data to test some new software which could help to track and identify wild cheetahs.
Samira - March 2010
Samira is on fine form at the moment and on a few walks recently, she’s demonstrated that she still has her great hunting instinct. The other day Samira came across a baby warthog which was of particular interest to her! However, Mummy warthog wasn’t so impressed when she found Samira with her baby and quickly frightened her away. She also managed to frighten those walking with her so everybody made a hasty retreat together!
Lucky - March 2010
There’s been lots of activity in Lucky’s camp recently which has kept Lucky and the three other cheetahs she shares with (Ayla and the two cubs), very entertained.
