Lucky, Ayla & Tearmark - August 2010

Lucky and her surrogate cubs, Ayla & Tearmark continue to be much loved stars at N/a’an ku sê and we have been working hard to try and raise the funds needed for their big new enclosure. We recently held an open day with Radio Wave where over 700 people came along to meet Lucky and enjoy some of wonderful wildlife activities.

Lucky, Ayla & Tearmark were in on the action as a special camp was made for them in quiet area across from the lodge where people could go to meet our beautiful three legged cheetah and the cubs.

Lucky is a wonderful surrogate mum for Ayla and Tearmark and continues to teach them the ways of cheetah life, keeping them in check as well as provided them the care they need to survive.

Lucky has also proved to be an artists mews with Vanessa Penman, a South African artist living in New Zealand, producing a beautiful portrait of her in pastels for our Wildlife Exhibition in September. Vanessa was inspired when she heard Lucky’s story from her Aunt who worked on the Volkswagen Golf advert featuring Lucky.

We still need to raise the rest of the funds needed for Lucky’s new camp so please email donations@naankuse.com if you would like to get involved.
