Samira - March 2010

Samira is on fine form at the moment and on a few walks recently, she’s demonstrated that she still has her great hunting instinct. The other day Samira came across a baby warthog which was of particular interest to her! However, Mummy warthog wasn’t so impressed when she found Samira with her baby and quickly frightened her away. She also managed to frighten those walking with her so everybody made a hasty retreat together!

It’s been very hot recently so Samira hasn’t felt like straying too far on her daily walks, so it was a surprise when just today, Samira took a rather long walk – on her own!

Whilst out on her usual daily walk, she became intrigued by something in the bushes and as soon as she ventured in, she quickly bolted off without giving anyone a chance to follow her! With everyone on high alert, she was soon spotted near the lions, Meatball and Gobbolina! It seems Samira was doing the rounds, visiting all the cats as after saying hello to the lions (thankfully it was just a hello) she headed off to see the eight cheetah cubs and Chiquita and Vasco. Fortunately, we managed to pick her up here and return her to her camp, safe and sound.
Needless to say Samira, the gracious queen of cheetahs at N/a’an ku sê, is keeping us all on our toes!
