Lucky, Ayla and Tearmark have a much bigger enclosure now that Samira has moved down to the volunteer area and the two cheetah camps have been made into one bigger enclosure.

Three cheetah update - September 2010

The group of three cheetahs released on NamibRand earlier this year are doing really well. Although the group split up after the release, the research team in the south has managed to follow the two collared individuals.

Lucky, Ayla & Tearmark - August 2010


Lucky and her surrogate cubs, Ayla & Tearmark continue to be much loved stars at N/a’an ku sê and we have been working hard to try and raise the funds needed for their big new enclosure. We recently held an open day with Radio Wave where over 700 people came along to meet Lucky and enjoy some of wonderful wildlife activities.

Three Cheetah Cubs Released - July 2010

The adventurous release of our three cheetah cubs!
After four weeks being in their new release boma, it was time for our three youngsters to be fully released back to the wild. N/a’an ku sê Directors, Rudie and Marlice van Vuuren, and Head Researcher, Florian Weise joined fellow researchers, Lars and Christine down in the stunning NamibRand Nature Reserve at the beginning of June. Eight cheetah cubs - May 2010

Plans are now well underway for the re-release of our eight cheetah cubs - our group of three, Caeser, Milo and Co-Co, were transported to NamibRand in May and are already settling into their “soft” release temporary camp.

Lucky, Ayla and Tearmark - May 2010

There was sad news at N/a’an ku sê this month as our little cheetah cub Whitetail, who lives with Lucky, Ayla and Tearmark, sadly passed away. It was a tragic accident which has deeply saddened us all here as he will be greatly missed.
